Five website mistakes that cost small businesses enquiries
None of these require a redesign to diagnose. Open your website on your phone — the way your customers do — and check each one.
1. The site is slow or broken on phones
Most small-business traffic is mobile. If your homepage takes long enough that you start wondering whether it loaded, visitors leave before seeing a single word. Check: open the site on mobile data, not office Wi-Fi.
2. Nobody can find how to contact you
A beautiful site with the phone number buried in a footer — or only behind a form — leaks enquiries daily. Your contact path should be visible without scrolling: call, WhatsApp, or a short form.
3. It talks about the company, not the customer's problem
“Welcome to our website, established with a vision of excellence…” Visitors don't buy visions; they buy their problem solved. Your first screen should say what you do, for whom, and what to do next.
4. Outdated information
Old prices, a moved address, a dead offer from two years ago: each one quietly tells visitors the business may not be active. Review your public pages quarterly — or have it done as part of routine website care.
5. No reason to trust you yet
Trust signals don't require exaggeration. Clear service descriptions, real photos of your work or premises, consistent branding, and honest specifics (“delivery within Cairo in 48 hours”, not “fast delivery!!”) outperform hype every time.
Every one of these is fixable — some in an afternoon. Our web development service starts from exactly this checklist; our demo portfolio shows what the fixed version looks like.
